The GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators. For this meeting we hope to focus on the development, verification and application of chemical tracers of ocean chemistry, biology and physics in the present and past, with an eye toward predicting those of the future. Processes of interest could include the changing circulation and ventilation of the oceans, the biological carbon pump including the sedimentary sink, major chemical inputs into the ocean, and internal transformations that impact the cycling of elements including rates.
