With more and more anime being created and imported all the time, it was only a matter of time before platforms known mostly for distributing and streaming anime would also start adapting originals themselves. Crunchyroll released its inaugural slate of original programming in Among the shows making their debut was "The God of High School," an action-packed martial arts anime based on the manhwa of the same name that was created by Park Yongje and published by Webtoon. The show follows Jin Mori, a year-old high school student and gifted martial artist from Seoul, South Korea, and his friends as they borrow power from mythical creatures and gods to compete in a tournament sponsored by a shady corporation that is meant to determine the strongest high schooler of them all. The winner of the tournament, which is also known as "The God of High School," shall have their wish granted by the company, no questions asked. Now fans are buzzing and wanting to know if — and when — another season might be released. Typically, there are a few factors to consider with regard to anime renewals , including the popularity of the show and whether there is remaining source material to be adapted.

As the tournaments preliminary rounds finish, and teams assemble, plans for many different people within the organization, and those pitted against them begin to make their moves to achieve their goals.

But though a combination of Jin Mori's newly awakened Sun Wukong form and a little help from his friends Park Ilpyo, Han Daewi and Yoo Mira saves Seoul from being engulfed by Jegal's greed, the anime wastes no time in setting up a follow-up season. In Season 2, Jin Mori will have his own Journey to the West to find out more about the hidden being laying dormant in his subconscious. In the same way that Yu-Gi-Oh! Other than this, we know next to nothing about the anime's take on the ancient antihero. Manhwa adaptations are still finding their feet in the world of anime. Although its ratings have taken a hit because of its short runtime, swift progressions, and original arcs, the demand for its second season seems to be high. Not to mention, the first season leaves several plot points hanging, which suggests that MAPPA Studio plans to renew it very soon. Although the anime skips many introductory arcs of the manhwa, it still manages to cover only two seasons volumes of the source. This leaves a lot of room for at least two more seasons of the anime.
