Home What is a Nigerian Dwarf? We are in a forested area just outside of the city limits. We raise these affectionate, fun, and gentle creatures for the love they give us back. We found that the Nigerians are like potato chips - "you can't have just one", but we are keeping our herd small so that we can provide the proper care and attention that we believe these animals deserve. Goats shouldn't eat potato chips but we have found they LOVE corn chips. Information on all the animals in our current herd can be found in the Our Bucks, Our Girls, or the Sale Barn sections.

High in the mountains above timberline lives one of my favorite Colorado wildlife species, the mountain goat Oreamnos americanus. In spite of their name, mountain goats are actually not true goats. In fact, mountain goats are more closely related to some African antelope species than they are to domestic goats! Billies and nannies both have horns, yet unlike many other Rocky Mountain ruminants, mountain goats rarely fight with one another. Feeding primarily on grasses and flowering plants, mountain goats live in herds and family groups, but you will occasionally see them off foraging on their own. During the winter, mountain goats develop a thick, woolly coat, which they shed during the spring and early summer. This is why they sometimes have a raggedy or patchy appearance — they shed their winter wool by snagging it on bushes and tree branches. Mountain goats have a number of unique adaptations that allow them to survive and thrive in an ecosystem characterized by steep, rugged terrain. Their hooves are padded to help them grip rocky surfaces and ledges, while flexible toes provide for increased traction.

If not, you may be able to rent or borrow a suitable trailer for transporting. We can begin vet scheduling for tests and paperwork required for the destination state so that the buyer can pick up the yak within a month or less from the date we receive the deposit. A Personal Check with sufficient funds backing it will also hold a yak but not until the check has been posted to our account which can take up to 14 Business Days. Some states only require Health Certificates which equates to significantly less cost than average while other states require multiple tests or vaccinations in addition to the Health Certificate. We will accept an early deposit for a buckling born in and refund it only if no male goat kids are born in Tolerating being tied is not true halter training but it facilitates yak sales. Some states only require Health Certificates, others require multiple tests or vaccinations in addition to the Health Certificate. At times it is a tough choice to choose to sell a yak because they become part of our family and we know each individual yak so well. The babies are handled daily by us so they are use to being held. An Electronic Bank Transfer is secure and equivalent to a Cash deposit. Goats shouldn't eat potato chips but we have found they LOVE corn chips. There is a significant time commitment involved with halter training and getting a yak to lead easily. Some yak owners find they must "fire sale" yaks at a loss when they are unable to afford to feed them.
Welcome to Colorado Pack Goats!
We raise these affectionate, fun, and gentle creatures for the love they give us back. Each yak is an individual with its own specific qualities and level of training. We advise checking with us if you don't have a suitable trailer for transport to determine if your property is within our local delivery area. Yaks are a commodity and pricing fluctuates with yaks. The longer we have a yak that is for sale, the more feed, care and other expenses we have associated with that yak so we must adjust our pricing to reflect this. Long before that those yaks have probably had reduced feed as the owner has struggled to continue operating. Some were never halter trained. If you buy more than 1 yak from us at the same time, the vet trip fee is charged per trip not per animal and only one Health Certificate listing all the yaks purchased is required which saves you money and reduces the vet cost per yak to meet required interstate transport regulations. These pages will provide pictures, registry information, parents, and a brief description of each animal. Since yaks were originally introduced into the US, a significant amount of line breeding has occurred for specific traits and appearance. We are a small ranch and so we cannot keep every yak that we have purchased or that is born on our ranch. Call us at or use our contact page to get specific pricing on individual yaks.
Remarkably! Thanks!
