Giselle says working with the Foundation helped to give her back independence and freedom after an accident in a motorcycle drag race. At the time of her accident, Giselle was 27, living in London and working in the fashion industry. But overnight she was facing a totally different future than the one she had planned. Adapting to life after a broken back and being paralysed from the waist down was one thing, but Giselle says the mental impact was harder to deal with after so long in hospital and losing her independence. She also found it difficult seeing how upset her family were and their feelings of helplessness. It took her time to adjust. Knowing there are always people there to support you makes it easier to move on with life and try things. We get to be part of something special. It feels amazing. Giselle is getting stronger every day and spent six months travelling around South America with her boyfriend before going on to Bali and Australia. There is so much positive energy from everyone.

Swan Lake also proposes a variety of denouements, depending on the version performed. Not for resale.

I love that lineage, a tradition being built from one performance to the next. By investing so much, they remind us that Giselle was revolutionary in its time, with a real heroine — a peasant girl betrayed by a seductive aristocrat — not a fairytale princess. Dancing peasants pop up from behind picturesque cottages and the ghosts of betrayed brides stalk the forest, but the emotions are universal and touching. Even when seemingly carefree, she is a girl touched with a grave premonition of her own frailty; her love for Albrecht ripples through her body; her descent into madness is one of terrible stillness followed by desperate jumps. When she reappears as a ghost, her lightness, the length of her line and the grace of her arms make her a vision of otherness. Around them an entire world dazzled. The corps de ballet on both occasions, coached by Samantha Raine, was a star in its own right, rightly applauded for the accuracy and commitment of its evocation of these sad ghosts. A rare occurrence… this metamorphosis of woman to bird is represented choreographically. Hi there! And it was in such terms that Robyn Orlin took it on, to describe the South African society that she came from. All images All images. And, although the choreography also imitates the movements of the bird and flight, like in the arm movements, the connotations it expresses are far more worrisome. He chose the third option and called upon the playwright Jean Rouaud, who drew a cosmogenic tale from the original storyline. Siegfried, believing that it is the woman he loves, declares that she will be his future bride and, without being aware, betrays his real true love. Here, there is no duke, and no hunting party. So, he used it as the subject of introspection based on ideals and standards of beauty, where he directed the bodies of prestigious dancers to which he confronted his own. Giselle is the tale of a young peasant girl who falls in love with Albrecht, the Duke of Silesia, who has vowed to be faithful to her, yet lies to her about his real identity. And he put this view into practise, by creating his own, exclusive version of the greatest ballets. During Raimund Hoghe's Lac des cygnes Swan Lake , certain members of the audience expressed the same incomprehension and left the theatre during the performance.
