It is an optional dungeon that is home to a few treasure items and a miniboss Foe. On the path through the Mountaintops of the Giants, head east from Zamor Ruins, and as you approach the large bridge, loop around the right-hand side just before the bridge to see a path sloping down to some double doors buried in the rock face. Beyond the Site of Grace, down the two flights of stairs, you'll enter a room lined with statues of Erdtree Burial Watchdogs. A Fanged Imp with a two-handed sword will drop from the ceiling across the room.

Frustrating traps and confusing routes pepper the catacombs dungeons of Elden Ring. These, coupled with difficult enemies and an intimidating boss, make the Mountaintop Catacombs one of the more difficult catacombs in the game. Further, many of the more difficult enemies in the dungeon can be easily cheesed, and the final boss is more bark than bite. After crossing the Zamor Ruins , you will come to a long bridge guarded by numerous Thorn Sorcerers and a Fire Prelate. At the bridge, turn to the south and follow the path to the left, beside the slope. The door to the catacombs will be at the end of the path. Head in and activate the Site of Grace. Go downstairs into a chamber. As you enter this room, an imp will drop from the ceiling at the far end. In the room to the West, another imp is clearly visible, but entering will trigger an ambush from a second imp to the right. This room contains a dead end, so turn around. Now go down the stairs to the north.
The identical room copy reminded me of old school super Mario one castles where the maze would just repeat the same screen and you had to know to take a different path through it, giants mountaintop catacombs. Boss battle was over before I knew it.
An Imp will throw knives from the end of the room, and another one will drop from the ceiling. Now, proceed left to a room full of three imps; one will ambush, and two will throw pots from afar. Kill them, then use the second elevator that has chains. Move south to a large room that has a statue and make a way to the right, climb the stairs, and go to another room on the left without stepping on the trap. This area is full of giant blades going up and down as well as Exploding Living Jars. Proceed south, then enter the room to the left and climb another set of stairs to be greeted by multiple Land Squirts. Keep moving forward while ignoring the Elden Ring enemies and exit the room quickly to enter another one.

Enter this elevator and ride it down to a room with a Stake Of Marika in it. Holy damage negation buff for the tree spirit and it's not bad, got it on the first try. Killed 30, did not get any stones. I'm fine with the weirdness of the dungeon but the Watchdogs being able to randomly one shot you with plunging attacks is pure BS. Once you have reached the floor, step back onto the elevator button then quickly jump back off. Grab the Grave Glovewort [8] below the stairs before continuing. An example would be the chain of lunging bites that it performs, where it retreats to the opposite side of the arena, and will swing its mouth left and right 3 times, each time requiring a well-placed dodge.
