Ash's Squirtle and Bulbasaur doesn't evolve. Then, of course, there is that hugely important decision that they'll be expected to make almost immediately after they first begin playing. Otherwise it'd be Bulbasaur. It does get Sleep Powder, but that doesn't save it. It can't learn Thunder Punch easily anymore, and even if it could, Thunder Punch is a physical move now. You can tell I'm a Mystery Dungeon fan as well, because I drew a scarf. The starters for the game were a mix of different generations, with Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlet making an appearance. Yes, that sounds completely ridiculous. By the time Oshawott becomes Samurott, its stats are all balanced , with no clear one stat rising clearly above the rest, which plays into how versatile Samurott can be. Despite Tepig having an advantage against more of the games' gym leaders, Oshawott's final evolution, Samurott, is just too good to ignore.
