Another mainstay gay club in Amsterdam, De Trut has been around since the 80s and has always been a scene favourite thanks to its non-commercial approach. All the staff are volunteers and all profits made by the club are used to promote LGBT causes. The use of phones and any kind of photography are also banned, to promote a safe place for the LGBT community to be free of prying eyes. Despite, or because of, its many rules, De Trut remains a fun and safe Amsterdam gay club. This relatively mainstream club in the heart of the Amsterdam gay district of Reguliersdwarsstraat attracts a young crowd and is welcoming of straight visitors. The club is split over three floors, with each offering a different style of music. There are a number of rules at the club, which basically boil down to not taking photos, being pretentious or ruining anyone else's fun. Club NYX hosts a number of different club nights and is open until on the weekends and until on the first Saturday of every month.
