Mods are modifications or additional functionality that a user can choose to add to a game to make it more enjoyable. Modding is the process of altering the game and its data files to use these mods. Changes can vary from being completely cosmetic, to fundamental modifications to gameplay, such as changes to the technology tree. In Galactic Civilizations II mods may allow the user to use more ship textures or different hulls other than the ones that come with the game. These are just some of the possible mods as there might be other mods in the future that change different aspects of the game. The Mod folder that may provide these abilities has not yet been documented. All the static images in the game are stored as. This is a common graphics format that Photoshop or any other graphics editor can handle. The 3D models are stored as. X files which is a standard 3D format that 3D Studio Max, Maya, and other graphics packages can work with. If the data is touched, it will result in a "cheat" flag being turned on. In the faction you have to input a startimage PNG but where must i put it? NOTE: Creating star systems only works when using the replace mod method.
I've been working on making some mod tools. The goal is to make creating mods you can't create from the game itself especially for people who don't want to muck around with the xml manually. This is an alpha version right now, and I'm looking to garner some feedback for further refinement. Stats tab. I'm not really sure what these do to be honest. Perhaps something to do with the civ's factions? Also the consumed trait seems set up purely for the festron well, all the races that are consumable perhaps?

I've been developing this mod for some weeks now, and the time is near for it's release. In short, this mod will: Replace the textures for all the races' homeworlds with new, original higher resolution versions. Replace all Class 0 planet textures with new, original higher resolution versions. Replace all ring and moon textures with new, original higher resolution versions. Replace all cloud textures with new, original higher resolution versions. Include authentic all-new Raw Terrain maps for all of the races' homeworlds.

EDIT: I see how to do it, but it's done on the civilization level, as opposed to the race. And how do I win by research victory, when there are no research technologies to research?
