There's a lot going on in the lore of Elden Ring, and the flames of Frenzy are a major part of the story. The world of Elden Ring is full of subplots and sidequests, usually given to you by completely missable NPCs who travel around the Lands Between, stopping at various landmarks along the way. Some of them are the keys to new weapons, armor, or spells, while others will unravel whole layers of lore and in-game mythology that will lead you to alternate endings and, maybe, change your understanding of your mission as a would-be Elden Lord altogether. This is certainly the case with the Frenzied Flame, one of Elden Ring's most dense and most easily missed side stories that will walk you down an entirely new path on your quest to the Erdtree--which will even make for some new enemies and some ominous foreshadowing of the future, should you choose to see this quest through. So what, exactly, is the Frenzied Flame and what does it have to do with Elden Ring's story? The answer is a little complicated, so strap in--and brace for a lot and we do mean a lot of major game spoilers along the way. One of the key components of Elden Ring's internal mythology is the idea of The Greater Will, which is what's known as an "Outer God," or an eldritch force that is exerting its influence on the Lands Between via conduits--regular gods, like Marika. There's a lot of finer points and ins-and-outs to being a god, outer or otherwise, in Elden Ring, but for now, its best to understand the Outer Gods in this story as puppet masters trying to pull the strings of the Lands Between while also existing firmly outside of the normal concept of reality. The Greater Will uses Marika as a conduit, but it also uses monstrous hand-like creatures known as the Two Fingers to communicate. At some point in the past, it established the idea of The Golden Order, a sort of quasi-religious movement anchored by the communication of the Two Fingers and Marika's reign, that believed in a divine plan or set of rules for all life. In fact, we even have the names of two of those rules in-game, as incantations known as the Law of Causality and the Law of Regression. Put simply, The Greater Will has a very strict view of how things work and how life must function--and, unsurprisingly, not everyone is super eager to go along with it, especially if they don't quite see eye-to-eye with those rules. Absolute chaos, madness, and in the words of some of their faithful, a complete breakdown of everything that "divides and distinguishes. The Greater Will may have been the top dog in terms of influence in the Lands Between prior to the Shattering and subsequent decay, but it was never without challengers.

Behind the altar at the Cathedral of the Forsaken is a hidden path, which reveals a labyrinth full of frenzied corpses and musically-inclined enemies. Three beams cross a pit with treacherous tombstone platforms sticking out from the walls. While the Lands Between appears to be governed by the Greater Will, Elden Ring players can discover the influence of the outer gods throughout the gameplay. Right from the start, players can head east to reach Caelid and witness the aftermath of the Goddess of Rot, whose power is rotting away from what was expected to be a lush mix of forest and swamps. Similarly, players can uncover another outer god hidden deep beneath the sewers of Leyndell, known as Frenzied Flame. In Elden Ring , players have the ability to wield the power of certain outer gods, such as Frenzied Flame, and even unlock special alternate endings for a few of them. Among all the outer gods, Frenzied Flame preaches chaos above all and possesses a deadly class of incantations. These spells prove immensely powerful in both PVE and, especially, PVP due to the Madness status build-up, which can stun other players and drain their mana. In the center of Weeping Peninsula, players can discover a small village called Ailing Village, occupied by maddened villagers with the burning eyes of Frenzied Flame. From there, head south to reach the Castle Morne Rampart site of grace, and then go up the hill on the west to reach Ailing Village and the Callu Baptismal Church. On the hill located on the east side of the village, players can find a scarab containing the Frenzied Burst incantation.

Once players have managed to grind through Elden Ring 's typically punishing gameplay, challenging demigods, and gathering Great Runes in their quest to restore the Ring, they are confronted with a few choices. They may finish the task they were given at the start of the game, reuniting the Elden Ring and becoming the Elden Lord themselves. They may also choose to usurp Queen Marika and let Ranni the Witch take her place, ushering in an Age of Stars and destroying the old, corrupting power structure. Gamers may take another route, deciding that the system is broken and everything needs to be burned to the ground so that something else can take place. Becoming the Lord of Frenzied Flame and choosing to embrace the power of the Three Fingers is probably the most unique of the six endings on offer at the end of Elden Ring. While most of them see the player take up the mantle of Elden Lord and maintain the status quo to some extent, choosing instead to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame brings about a massive change to the Lands Between, and essentially destroys everything in the hope that something better might eventually be born from the ashes. It's a typical FromSoftware ending; on the surface, it appears quite bleak, dark, and a little violent, but there's some hopeful optimism in the mix as well. While some endings, like the Age of Fracture or the Age of Order , don't really require the player to go out of their way too much to achieve them, the Lord of Frenzied Flame needs some quite specific circumstances to come about.

Explore this hidden area and descend using the coffin slabs to find the Inescapable Frenzy incantation hanging on a corpse. In doing so, you will receive Miquella's Needle , an item that can only be used once. Love how people complain that the game does not tell you how to get in some places or that there is not a sign or hint about how to open some doors I mean i wonder if i can accept the Frenzied Flame after that, provided the place is still accessible. I can't seem to cast it, I just put a ton of runes into getting my faith up there and can't even use it? The tent should shatter when you enter the game. Good against large targets from the massive stagger and every shot landing, good against small ones since it's a big arcing shotgun that's hard to miss, cheap enough FP cost to use regularly. These spells prove immensely powerful in both PVE and, especially, PVP due to the Madness status build-up, which can stun other players and drain their mana. Don't be fooled by the madness buildup, this has far more use in PvP outside of inflicting madness. A frenzied flame to melt away the curses, suffering and despair. Probably worth mentioning that accepting the Frenzied Flame will cause Melina to hate you the next time you rest at a Site of Grace. I tried the jump puzzle dozens of times while shitfaced drunk, and then nailed it in 4 tries being sober lol, for what it's worth you don't have to hard jump every one, some you can just walk or roll off of, or like some other commentors have said just back step or use a weapon art apparently. This is spell basically the best spell for more than half the game factoring everything together. It'll be more likely to multi hit and stance break them. Hyetta begins her mission believing that she's going to become a finger maiden as a servant of The Greater Will but, somewhere along the way, decides that she's actually better suited to a different power.

However, this is an endgame area reachable only after obtaining both Haligtree medallions and using them at the Grand Lift of Rold. Now, while these two are far from the only Outer Gods in Elden Ring's mythology, they seem to be the two most closely related to one another. And it's very easy to apply madness with the ground this spell covers. The ones that release yellow pollen. It doesn't go well, but doesn't change her mind about it, either.
