Flag football is a great game to play, especially during the offseason. Flag football is a great opportunity to not just install plays, but to teach throwing, catching, route running, ball security, WR stances, pass coverage- zone coverage, man coverage and to get the kids competing. Most flag football leagues play 7 on 7. Here are our 10 best flag football plays. All players are labeled with the QB labeled Q. When you show the kids the play you just assign your players a number and they will run the routes of their assigned number every time. This keeps things simple and efficient.

At the beginning of all offensive plays, players on the field must create an offensive formation at the line of scrimmage. Football formations give each player a specific location on the line of scrimmage to begin their play. This prevents players from running into each other, crowding on the field, and promotes safety. Take a look at the offensive flag football plays below. Each circle or O represents an individual player, with the square representing the quarterback. Where each player is located at the start of the play represents an offensive formation. The arrows reflect the plays, or routes, which provide an individualized map for each player in a formation. Most of you who play on an adult 7v7 flag football league are passing the ball a little more than a 5v5 youth flag football team normally does. You might be playing in a very talented adult flag football league. If you practice them, they will fit perfectly with your 7v7 flag football pass game, too. Of course you can. In fact, you have an advantage that NFL coaches do not. These concepts are so tried and true that NFL defenses expect them. The 7v7 flag football defenses you play against will not.
By Coach Martin Football Plays. Flag football is a great game to play, especially for youth players who are learning the basic skills of the game. A lot of flag football leagues will play as 7-on-7 teams. This means each team has seven players on the field, as opposed to the normal 11 players for a regular football game. The normal breakdown for an offense includes three offensive linemen, a quarterback, and either two wide receivers and one running back or one wide receiver and two running backs. The rules in most 7 on 7 flag football leagues also state that one of the offensive linemen can also run a passing route which is most often the center. When creating offensive 7 on 7 flag football plays, the idea is to try to get the ball to a receiver or running back in space. Since in flag football, all a defender has to do is rip off a flag from a belt rather than make a tackle , the idea is to keep the ball handler as far away from defenders as possible. This makes creating offensive plays in 7 on 7 flag football slightly different than that for normal tackle football.
