Fallen Stars are items which randomly fall from the sky at night. Falling Stars spawn at the top of the world and rapidly fall to the ground. They can be easily found by the light they give off and the distinctive sound they make as they fall. They deal base damage on the rare occasions that they impact enemies as they are falling, though they will not damage players. However, this happens so rarely and unpredictably that relying on it to happen, for example to help defeat a boss, is not a viable strategy. Fallen Stars glow in a pulsing pattern like Blinkroot , but are about as bright as a Torch.

They cannot be placed by the player as permanent light sources , but can be combined with a Bottle to craft the Star in a Bottle. They will disappear during the day, regardless of whether they are dropped by a player, but can remain in a player's inventory or a storage item such as a Chest indefinitely. In the uncommon event that a Fallen Star hits an enemy or critter , it will deal base damage to the struck entity. In these worlds, Fallen Stars that fall from the sky do not drop as an item on impact, and can only be obtained from slimes as their bonus drop. Navigation menu Namespaces Page Discussion. Fallen stars occur each and every night in Terraria, randomly falling all over the map, but do you need them for anything, and if so, what? Fallen Stars are primarily an unusual crafting material in Terraria, used for a variety of purposes. This includes a few weapons, vanity items, and most importantly, Mana Crystals. During the day, they will only not despawn if placed in your inventory or a storage container. Even throwing them to another player during the day will cause them to despawn. They also have the fairly unique but fun trait of being capable of dealing damage as they are spawned, as they will quite literally fall from the sky, and damage anything they hit other than players on the way down.
