Fabric stores in puerto vallarta
And if you know me in real life you would know that I love a good deal….
Walking down Calle Aquiles Serdan recently, I was surprised to see a new shop which beckoned me in with its brilliant colors and unusual lighting. The deeper I went into the interior, the more intrigued I became. Shelves from floor to ceiling of multi-colored rugs and tablecloths; pillows in rich earth tones piled high; beautiful wood tables, some cut from huge slabs of tree trunks. I was in the new showroom of Casa Oaxaca where art and home decor reign. The very knowledgeable owner, Alberto Contreras, and I began a lengthy conversation which took me back to my days as a handwork teacher where my students learned all things natural about wool, spinning, weaving, and dying with plants untouched by chemicals. Their main factory is in Oaxaca where their Zapotec culture is reflected in the designs and colors of the textiles they create. Alberto then took me down to the lower level where the natural stone foundation complemented their work area.

Mexico City was admittedly not brilliant for fabric shopping, either modern stuff or more local and traditional woven cloths. The main modern fabric shops are all part of a chain called La Parisina , branches of which can be found just south of the Zocalo in the historic centre, and a couple more slightly north from there at Lagunilla which is an utterly bizarre area full of tacky bridal shops, though apparently hosts a good flea market on Sundays. Other than that, all the Parisina branches had similar stuff and prices. These super cheerful florals reminded me of Rachel! Oaxaca also had two Parisina branches a couple of blocks south of the Zolaco.
Located just off busy Francisco Villa Avenue is the Macroplaza , a huge shopping and entertainment center in Puerto Vallarta. I checked out their website. Any suggestions Is oaxaca close to mexico city. Gorgeous fabrics and great prices! We got a lovely thick cotton woven there. We pay about forty dollars per package and are absorbing the difference. It is sampled in Veranda and the pattern repeat size is Horizontal: If the brand, pattern name, and color are the same as our website, you are buying the correct fabric. Just trust me on that one. It is very complicate to find cotton gingham…. I have found it at smaller, independently own fabric stores in Manzanillo and Leon… Never at the big chain, La Parasina. Wish I had had more time to visit fabric shops in Oaxaca and read your blog first. I live in Guanajuato and we only have la parasina. As you can imagine, the process of making the dyes is very complicated and done by only certain family members who have been trained in this skill.
And if you know me in real life you would know that I love a good deal…. So, back in February, we escaped our snow-packed mountains for a few days to the sunny beaches of Puerto Vallarta. And while the beaches were great—one morning I dragged my husband a bit further downtown to do a little fabric shopping.
A few of the thousands of market stalls sold haberdashery, lace trimmings, and the checked cotton used to make the traditional Zapotec embroidered aprons that the ladies wear to run errands and cook in. I absolutely love your ikat dress. I noticed that the same store is also in CDMX. Fabric or Swatch: Required Priced by the single Yard, sold and ships only with a two yard minimum. I have access to some lovely African fabrics in the local village. The shift toward me-mades over rtw being my most favourite items to wear is a v encouraging one. I really love it, especially the directional pattern placements. Post not marked as liked 1. I hope that helps! I really should have stocked up on lace and zips as they were ridiculously cheap. A note on the lovely selection of plaids — all schools k require students to wear uniforms. There are 20 basic natural dyes from which different colors can be made! Related posts Worship Jeans.
