Derby City Council and the Peak District National Park deal with all planning applications including mineral and waste applications within their areas. District and borough councils deal with all other types of planning applications. Details of current applications under consideration by us and our recent decisions are available. There is also information on the application's processing stage and, where it is known, the date that the application will be considered by the Regulatory Planning and Control Committee or the strategic director - economy, transport and environment for delegated items. The information provided in the register is continuously updated from our planning application system. Our regulatory - planning committee make decisions where there are planning policy objections or other unresolved planning objections. Information on the way we deal with planning applications and the standards we seek to achieve, are set out in our 'Planning Development Control Charter' which can be accessed on the processing applications page. We are responsible for ensuring that developments that have been approved are carried out in accordance with the requirements imposed on permissions and that regular monitoring visits are made to sites to check operations. The aim of development control is to pro-actively ensure that the pattern and nature of proposed development falls within local policies and follows central government legislation and guidance as set out in Planning Policy Guidance Statements. We provide information and advice on the planning process to all who wish to invest and develop in Derby. For most types of application we have a statutory duty to allow members of the public at least 21 days to comment on the application, this is known as the consultation period.
