Starting as a young man working for Lon Myatt on the farm, he developed a deep appreciation for agriculture. He later joined Hoof Products and Maquoketa Lumber Company, where he honed his skills and work ethic. Jacob dedicated nearly 15 years to the Pacific Coast Feather Company until its closure. In the last four years of his life, he was a valued employee at Dittmer Recycling, where his commitment and reliability were greatly appreciated.
