They're uncommon to semi-rare spawns in their given areas, and as prey animals, they'll frequently get attacked by carnivores like Raptors and Saberooths, so you may end up finding most of them already in their defensive curl.

Similar to the yeti, abominable snowman, and bigfoot, the Doedicurus hides away in the rocky mountains looking for vegetation. The Doedicurus is an incredibly slow-moving dinosaur. You do not need to worry about using traps to capture the Doedicurus. These herbivores can sometimes be surrounded by carnivores; if this is the case, make sure that you kill everything in close proximity to the Doedicurus before you start the taming process. The Doedicurus will curl into a ball if you deal too much damage to its shell.

There are a few spots the Doedicurus can spawn, but only a single entity. Those spots are marked in red on the map above. Doedicurus is a defensive creature that will attack when provoked. After taking a significant amount of damage they will roll into a protected shell, which reduces the damage they receive significantly. They uncurl after regenerating enough health to feel safe, and there is the possibility for a player to find themselves being chased by a vengeful Doedicurus unless they can get out of the creature's territory quick enough or simply make it lose interest. Once tamed, the Doedicurus can curl up into a ball while being ridden and roll forward. Similar to an armadillo in appearance, the size of the Doedicurus is fairly small, being about 3—4 meters long and 1—2 meters high. But this size should not hinder its capability in battle, due to its thick outer shell and spike covered, club-like tail, the Doedicurus can be a tough target for even the larger animals on the island.
