Dodongos cavern

Pick up a bomb flower from either side of the room and throw it at the cracked wall.

Make your way over to Kakariko Village and climb up to the top of the area. This will initiate a lengthy conversation in which he laughs at you, opens the gate, tells you to get the shield and comments that his kid desperately wants a mask from the Happy Mask Shop in Hyrule Town. The mask is part of a side quest that will be covered in a later chapter. It was originally 80 rupees, but now that we talked to the guard, it is for sale for 60 rupees. Alternatively, you can get one for free in the Kakariko Graveyard, which we covered in the previous chapter.

Dodongos cavern

The entrance to Dodongo's Cavern is currently blocked by a large boulder. After leaving Goron City, go to the right and you will find a bomb flower next to a Goron. Pick up the bomb flower and toss it over the fence toward the large boulder below. If you threw it the right way, it will destroy the boulder. If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying until it does. Run down the mountain and enter the newly opened cave. Once inside, you have one more wall to break with a bomb flower before you are in the cavern. If Link comes in contact with any fire it will destroy his Deku Shield, so now would be a good time to equip the Hylian Shield, if you have one. Heed Navi's warning about avoiding the lava. This first, primary cavern features a main central platform that can be reached by way of the surrounding fluctuating platforms. They don't ever fully dip into the lava, so you're safe on the platform.

Sadly, you will be unable to retrieve it with your current equipment. This opens both the doors and points you towards the next one, dodongos cavern. Since the Baby Dodongos explode dodongos cavern death, you could try and use them to open this wall.

It also has a great amount of rocks in it that the Gorons that live nearby eat, and it is used for mining food for them. The cave is located about halfway up Death Mountain Trail.

Pick up a bomb flower from either side of the room and throw it at the cracked wall. Dodongo's Cavern has a left side and a right side, three rising platforms around the center ring, and a rock lizard mouth at the opposite end of the entrance. There are two Deku scrubs who will sell you a shield and some nuts over to the right, but chances are you won't have to bother with them. To the left of the Deku scrubs, a blocked doorway houses a mystery stone. But you can't use it until way later when or rather, if you get the Mask of Truth, so ignore it for now and come back later. Jump to the center platform, grab the bomb from the bomb flower, turn left and jump to the pillar, then to the walkway on the left side of the room. Throw the bomb at the blocked doorway to the right to reveal an alcove with a treasure chest. Inside, you will find the dungeon map. Go back to the center platform, grab another bomb and jump diagonally to the left facing the lizard head formation.
