In the ancient past, on an unknown world, weary travelers arrived in destiny lore desert to discover a great machine. They called it The Gardener. Lore are collectibles, originally a category of Triumphs , that were added to Destiny 2 with the release of Forsaken. It is divided into four sections: The Vanguard added in Lightfall , The Light, Dusk and Dawn, and The Darkness, each of which contains several lore books with multiple entries. With some exceptions, each category is focused on certain subjects. Lore entries are unlocked via finding collectibles throughout the game or completing certain tasks. As of Beyond Light's release, all entries from lore books that were added throughout Forsaken and Shadowkeep's yearly cycles have been automatically unlocked. Since Beyond Light's release, seasonal lore books that are added throughout the yearly expansion cycle i. A Tangled Web from Season of the Hunt get their entries unlocked automatically at the end of that cycle.
