The going rate for character slots is exactly 2 dollars per slot, and they sell them in packs of 20 slots each, for 40 dollars total! Buying characters would be a really small change that should increase profit for the developers and quality of life for the players. This is a Pay to Play game, unlike PoE where they sell stuff in game to make their money. They need to make some afford to prepare every new ladder season and, more important, they need to maintain servers.
