It is the third installment in the Despicable Me film series and a sequel to 's Despicable Me 2. The film was released on June 30, , by Universal Pictures. A sequel, Despicable Me 4 , is scheduled for release in July 3, Bratt was a former child actor who portrayed a young supervillain in a popular television series before the show was cancelled as a result of his puberty, and his waning popularity led to him adopting his former persona to become an actual supervillain. After the order from Silas Ramsbottom is announced, Gru arrives to the ship where the heist is happening with his wife Lucy and two of his Minions , and he eventually saves the diamond but is unable to capture Bratt, while the Minions become the host of a beach party of Shaka Hut accidentally.

And even though the Minions once again more or less stole the show, even they began to wear out their welcome a bit. Although he saves the diamond, Gru lets Balthazar get away and as a result, the new head of the AVL Jenny Slate in a strangely brief role fires both him and Lucy. No sooner has Gru suffered this professional setback than his personal world is rocked as well when he is contacted by his heretofore-unknown twin brother Dru also Carrell and invited to meet him at his home on the faraway land of Freedonia. Gru and the family fly off to Freedonia and discover that Dru is fabulously wealthy and handsome. But just as the even-more-depressed Gru is about to leave, Dru confesses the real reason for summoning his brother—he wants his sibling to teach him the tricks of the super-villain trade so that he can also carry on in the family tradition. The problem here is that the filmmakers seem to have gone out of their way to concoct a story out of elements that will hold little appeal to that target audience. Moreover, the whole Balthazar character is liable to baffle and confuse them more than anything else since he is a joke inspired by popular culture trends of an era long before they were even born.
