In the Dental Assisting diploma program, you'll learn how to prepare treatment rooms and patients, and how to assist dentists with performing treatments. Your Intra-Oral Level I training will include preparing and using various tools and materials for use during those treatments, performing infection control procedures, assisting with the suctioning apparatus, and handling clerical tasks in a dental office. When passed, this makes you eligible to register with your provincial dental assisting regulator body ODAA for certifying. Your Intra Oral Level II training includes: learning to expose, process, and mount digital radiographs; polishing teeth; applying topical fluoride, topical anesthetic, and sealants; taking impressions of teeth; installing and removing dental dams; taking preliminary impressions for study casts; and instructing patients on proper oral care.
