Mountains are perhaps the most important natural feature you can draw on a map. They impact weather patterns, where rivers flow, and ultimately where cities and nations arise. In this tutorial, I will walk through one of my favorite methods to draw mountains on your fantasy maps! Draw a line to indicate where you would like to place your mountain range. This helps you to focus more on the overall composition of your mountain range so it looks natural on the map.

This time the stakes are higher though, since being pushed over the edge will not just cause a disadvantage for the party, but will actually put the characters in great peril. This time I opted for a colder color palette than I usually do since I figured it goes a lot better with the mountain theme and on that note, another idea you can use is to send strong, unexpected gusts of wind magical, even that hinder the party in some way.
