I think my visual work is inspired by film, graphic design, and typography as much as it is by modernism and abstract expressionist artists like Robert Rauschenberg and Cy Twombly. My paintings are rooted in using process and materials to create layers of physical texture and dense visual narratives. For more than fifteen years, I've been recording cy twombly kimdir podcast conversations with photographers and creatives about what they do and why they do it, cy twombly kimdir.

The work of Swedish abstract painter Hilma af was barely exhibited in her own lifetime and failed to be written into art history. A century later, however, there is a public hunger for af Klint's paintings that has surprised even the organizers of recent blockbuster exhibitions, and full-color publications and a documentary have followed in their wake. This review will note which new research material can be found in each of the four key museum publications and the documentary film, and discuss how these extraordinary paintings, and the artist who made them, are being historicized today. These reveal a hard-working artist fascinated by the intense pace of scientific discovery going on around her, especially the Bree Midavaine. My assessment and interpretations are, of necessity, based on a close analysis of a few of her paintings known through reproductions. Considerations of the familial, spiritual, and scientific aspects of her life have been studied for factors that could have affected her artistic processes. I have attempted to contextualize her paintings within the spiritual influences of her relationship with Rudolph Steiner and the teachings of Annie Besant and Madame Blavatsky. Even though her works at the academy were perfect examples of her beautiful naturalistic style and technical expertise, they will not be discussed in detail and are not included in the paintings used in my analysis. The second chapter focuses on the occult and religious influences on her methodology and iconography. The third chapter is an iconographic analysis of three of her paintings. Her pictures are multifaceted and rife with multiple symbolic meanings that an attempt to interpret even one of her series in its entirety is daunting.

Although at first glance the graffiti-like scribbles and scratches of Cy Twombly's work might resemble art made by a naughty child of Jackson Pollock , it is nothing of the kind: it is the work of an erudite, sophisticated, and emotional painter. Whereas the work of Pollock and the Abstract Expressionists emerged in s New York, where their existential inner dramas were enacted against the acutely felt backdrop of World War II, Twombly's work was part of the next generation, emerging during the s in Europe - a Europe that was trying to forget and rebuild. Twombly, based for the most part in Rome, thus focused on his immediate surroundings, responding to the history and beauty he found there, combining aspects of both traditional European sources and the new American painting. While in the army, Twombly modified the Surrealist technique of automatic drawing by creating compositions in the dark - after lights out. These "blind" drawings resulted in the kind of elongated, distorted forms and curves that we see in this work. Biomorphic imagery is also apparent in the figurative scrawls giving way to more non-figurative scribbles and markings. Leda and the Swan the title is written in the lower right corner , one of Twombly's most accomplished works, illustrates his career-long attraction to the stories, literature, and events of classical antiquity, an interest that expanded further after he moved to Rome in The title refers to the Roman myth in which Jupiter, transformed into a swan, seduces Leda, who would later give birth to Helen of Troy.

Twombly avoided centers of modern art like New York, moving to Italy in There he engaged creatively with the enduring legacy of antiquity, infusing his work with provocative allusions to mythology, poetry, and archaeology. By exploring the classical past, Twombly followed a long tradition in American and European art. His great contribution lay in linking his understanding of ancient art and literature to late-twentieth-century modernist practice, translating historically remote references into a bracingly contemporary artistic idiom.
