Crocodiles were a large carnivorous reptile that resided in swamps, rivers, lakes, and other wetlands. Being reptiles, crocodiles were quite vulnerable to cold, becoming slow and sluggish if exposed to it. Their four legs, though short, were noted as being quite powerful in terms of propelling them rapidly through their watery habitats. Crocodiles mated once every year, laying clutches of up to 60 eggs that they then buried beneath sand. Unlike some reptiles, a female crocodile was known to carefully guard her clutch of eggs against any potential predators. When the eggs eventually hatched the mother would assist her young in getting free of the sand, but thereafter would leave them to fend for themselves.

But amidst all the dragons, beholders, and goblinoids, one might forget that nature itself can pose a threat. The crocodile, a seemingly ordinary animal, brings the terrifying power and cunning of nature to the forefront of the game. Drawing inspiration from real-life crocodilians, the crocodile is a large beast that can be found in any swampy or watery environment. They are patient hunters, lying in wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. With their armored scales and immense bite force, crocodiles make for a challenging encounter for even the most seasoned of adventurers. Their natural weaponry and predatory instincts make them formidable opponents in combat. As ambush predators, crocodiles can hold their breath for extended periods of time, allowing them to remain submerged and hidden from view. This ability makes them stealthy adversaries, able to surprise even the most perceptive of heroes. When a crocodile successfully hits a target with its bite attack, it can also initiate a grapple. If the grapple is successful, the crocodile can then drag its hapless victim into the water, attempting to drown them or simply hold them in place while it continues to bite and thrash.
