Quick links. I am not a mechanic or internet technical guru so that's why I asked, crane camshaft identification. I believe it might be an old 'Fireball' or 'Commander' series.
Print Thread. I've got an old camshaft of which I'm trying to the specifications to. From what I've read, it seems to be a Crane Cam Core with a Chet Herbert grind but in searching there were two cams with two different specs that used the number so I'm trying to verify the cam information. Please, can someone help me in finding the original cam specs. Also, this cam is specifically for a Big Block Mopar Wedge engine 3 bolt.

But just like learning a new language, if you break each one down into smaller pieces, everything becomes easier to understand. One area of confusion is certainly a camshaft timing card. All aftermarket and production camshafts use a series of terms and specifications to identify their operating characteristics. These may seem obscure and even perhaps baffling, but in fact these cam specifications lay out a simple way of determining exactly how a particular camshaft will operate in the engine. A camshaft is really a device used to convert rotating motion into linear up and down movement. This is accomplished by use of a cam follower or lifter that starts on the round portion of the eccentric, which is called the base circle.

Their profiles have been smoothed by computers for increased valve train life and added performance. One of these camshafts would be an awesome choice for a true restoration. Crane makes Blueprint camshafts for almost, if not, every GM, Ford, Mopar engine from the sixties and seventies.

I guess you could mic the lobes and see if they match the lift of the Crane Part. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The 22 is the end of the part , and you need to match the grind to the part.
