Sport Football. Chelsea gifted Leeds the opening goal, Moises Caicedo losing the ball the on the edge of the box after a poor pass from Axel Disasi and Mateo Joseph finishing well for his first Leeds goal. But the hosts responded impressively with Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk finishing off slick moves inside the box to put Chelsea up at the interval. Leeds controlled most of the second half and deservedly levelled when Joseph headed home his second goal of the night, only for Gallagher to have the final say. Not at fault for either goal and made a series of routine saves. Does not omit the same air of authority as Djorde Petrovic, however. His pace and trickery offered the occasional threat down the right, but tired and allowed Jaidon Anthony to cross for Leeds' equaliser.

Chelsea needed a late header from Axel Disasi to snatch a draw with Brentford on Saturday. The Blues were comfortable in the first half and were good value for the lead handed to them by Nicolas Jackson's header, but Brentford upped their performance after the break as goals from Mads Roerslev and Yoane Wissa turned the game on its head. With the clock ticking down, Disasi popped up with a powerful header to save Chelsea from another disappointing defeat. Ivan Toney saw a close-range volley blocked early on, before Wissa's strike from the edge of the box looked threatening but was always curling wide of Djordje Petrovic's far post. Wissa struck the side netting from a tight angle before Jackson rounded Mark Flekken but saw his slow effort cleared off the line by Mathias Jorgensen. There would be no denying Jackson on the minute mark, however, The Senegal striker rose highest to meet a cross from Malo Gusto and steered his header perfectly into the bottom corner. The goal clearly knocked Brentford's confidence as Chelsea began to flex their quality. The Blues had plenty of half-chances but had to make do with their slender advantage at the break. Brentford responded perfectly to start the second half. Toney's looping cross found Sergio Reguilon but the Spaniard's shot was deflected into the path of Roerslev for a simple tap-in. Vitaly Janelt struck the post just moments later, before Cole Palmer missed a great chance on the counter when Chelsea really needed something to help ease the pressure Brentford's wave of momentum had created. The Bees kept coming and got the second goal their performance deserved with 20 minutes to go.

However, their lead was not long lived, with Nicolas Jackson levelling the match just moments later with a clever finish. Chelsea then took the lead on 37 minutes through Mykhailo Mudryk. Some nice build-up play ended with Raheem Sterling picking out Mudryk in the box, who finished calmly for his fifth goal of the season in all competitions. Leeds were level on 59 minutes.

The Blues will take on either Liverpool or Fulham in the final next month, with the Reds taking a lead to Craven Cottage on Wednesday. Though Middlesbrough controlled the opening stages, Chelsea nearly took the lead early on. Thiago Silva's long ball over the top picked out the run of the returning Ben Chilwell, who beat goalkeeper Thomas Glover to the pass but looped his header over the bar. The Blues broke the deadlock and tied the score on aggregate on 15 minutes. Chilwell's adventurous run infield saw him skip past a couple of Middlesbrough defenders and slip in Raheem Sterling. The winger then squared for Armando Broja to tap home, though the Albanian's first touch was poor and the retreating Jonny Howson appeared to get a telling touch as the ball trickled into an empty net. Boro nearly scored almost immediately down the other end via a corner, with Morgan Rogers making his way into the box and firing towards the near post, only to be denied by a low save from Djordje Petrovic. Chelsea's second goal came just before the half-hour mark. Sterling's clever flick found Axel Disasi on the overlap, and though Broja's shot was miscued from the resulting cross, Enzo Fernandez was on hand to slot the the ball home. A third soon followed as Chelsea took control of the tie.

Mauricio Pochettino named the Blues' youngest ever starting lineup in the Premier League era and they looked far more assured of themselves on their return to home soil. The visiting Eagles put up a good fight but fell short at the last to ensure their miserable run against Chelsea continued. The away end thought their side had taken a fifth-minute lead when Ebere Eze's low free-kick struck the side-netting, only realising seconds later the ball had gone the wrong side of the post. Surprise starter Ian Maatsen went close to breaking the deadlock after meeting a fine through ball from Mykhailo Mudryk, but Tyrick Mitchell retreated to clear the ball off the line in the nick of time. Soon after, Chelsea notched themselves ahead. Malo Gusto carried on a run over from right to left after some neat link-up play with Christopher Nkunku, crossing for Mudryk to finish from close range. The Ukrainian went close to adding his second midway through the first half when sent through by a clever back-heel from Nicolas Jackson, only to be denied by the sprawling frame of Dean Henderson. Nkunku was next to be freed by Jackson, but he completely missed the ball when trying to fire at goal and his pocket was picked by Chris Richards. In first-half stoppage time, Palace found a leveller.
