According to my research and discussions with executives involved in manufacturing the early Pokemon sets, the total 1st edition Base Set print run in was approximately 75, booster boxes. Each box contained 36 packs of 11 cards each. So in total, around 2,, cards were printed for the 1st edition Base Set.
