Changewing

Night Fury - Nightly Fury

I have a question about changewing camouflage and its relation to heat. My understanding is that if a rock and the air are exposed to the same amount of heat over several hours, their temperature will actually be identical -- which would debunk your camo-triggered-by-heat theory I'm not hating on your theories, I actually really liked that one so I'm more hating on what I think I understand about physics. Part of the reason a rock would feel warmer to us than the air is because we are not room temperature -- we have body heat. Things feel cold and warm to us not just because of how warm they actually are, but because of how well they conduct the warmth from our bodies. Metal is very heat conductive, so it will feel colder to us in comparison to a peice of wood of identical temperature.

Changewing

In Dragons: Riders of Berk, Changewing eggs have a triangular shape, and they change colors while casting bright lights. They appear to have a solid core encased in another translucent shell. In Dragons: Rise of Berk and School of Dragons, Changewing eggs also have a translucent outer shell, but instead, wavy red stripes on it and emit a faint white glow. Changewings are usually red or green. They have teeth protruding out their lip from their lower jaw and yellow eyes. They possess a pair of horns that protrude from the back of their heads, a single horn on their nose, and a pair of antennae with leaf-like lobes that are similar to a Snaptrapper's. The spines on the Changewings are also leaf-like in shape. Their wings are red or green with yellow edges and their size is close to Monstrous Nightmare as shown by Hookfang trying to rescue Snotlout. However, the edges of their wings become sharper and their color turns. They are dark green and their wings have red edges and splotches of black. The blue spines turn red and the blue horns at the side of their head turn green. The Changewing's most noticeable attribute is the ability to change the color and texture of its scales to match that of their surroundings.

You'll see what those all are down below, changewing. Hiccup and the gang scramble to return the eggs, and they end up with giving changewing all back, but the Changewings don't leave.

The Changewing is a mystery class dragon that appears in three episodes of Riders of Berk. Changewings seem to be social creatures as shown in Gem of a Different color when a bunch of mother changewings help each other get their eggs. Two of their unique traits are acid breath, and color changing their ability to change color make their skin softer that is why it protects itself by color changing. They hunt in packs like wolves and lead 1 prey out of the group and they surround it. Its weakness is that you must lead it into an area where it cannot camouflage itself.

This mysterious dragon's diet usually consists of fireweed, fish, wild boar, nightcomb, and smaller dragons. It is a huge beast with a wingspan of 30 feet. The Changewing is a very sneaky dragon as it can camouflage and is very agile. They weigh almost pounds and are massive, but as mentioned before they are very fast and agile creatures. Instead of fire, they have a very corrosive acid that can burn wood much faster than fire can. Changewing eggs have a transparent looking outline, and on the inside is a variety of different colored lights. Most Changewings are red and orange, while some often extremely rare have green and blue. They have the ability to hypnotize, but only one dragon at a time unlike an alpha class which can control millions. This is why the Changewings are a Mystery Class because they have a mix of different variety of powers and also have the abilities to disguise themselves. This is why Changewings are truly beautiful, yet harmful dragons.

Changewing

The Captured Changewing is a Changewing that was captured by the Outcasts during their attempts to train dragons. It was then placed in the dragon cages on Outcast Island. The training was hampered by the Changewing continuously using its color changing abilities to blend into the cave wall, forcing the Outcasts to enter the cave to check up on it and allowing the Changewing to blast acid at them. When Hiccup was captured by Alvin the Treacherous and brought to Outcast Island, he was forced to aid the Outcasts in their dragon training. Upon noticing two Outcast soldiers entering a cave that appeared to not hold a dragon, Hiccup stated that the dragon had not disappeared, but was actually a color-changing Changewing. At this moment, the Changewing revealed itself and attempted to shoot acid at the Outcasts. Despite Hiccup being forced to give advice to the Outcasts on how to deal with the other captured dragons, it is unclear if or how the Outcasts changed their attempts to train this Changewing. However, they most likely did change their methods, given the changes they made to the training techniques of the other dragons Hiccup commented on. Later on, after Hiccup had managed to escape, with the "aid" of Mildew , and trained Flystorm , he returned to the dragon cages in an attempt to rescue Toothless. However, Alvin was prepared for them, releasing the Changewing, along with Groundsplitter and a Captured Scauldron , to attack Hiccup, Mildew, and Flystorm.

Medium: 40 feet The blue spines turn red and the blue horns at the side of their head turn green. Fishlegs then nervously tries to find them, and the Changewings surround Fishlegs and reclaim their egg from him. So if Nathan's theory is true, that means the Changewing controls its body temperature consciously to a certain extent, and it heats itself up to camouflage and cools itself down to reappear. Their agility and speed have shown to be quite good. Main article: Tuffwing. Changewing is also available in other languages. They appear to have a solid core encased in another translucent shell. In the Race to the Edge, Season 3 episode "Enemy of My Enemy", Dagur the Deranged diverts a menacing Changewing by clasping his hands together at his mouth and making a deep, fast whistling sound, almost like some sort of bird call. They usually blend in with their surroundings while approaching their prey, then transform back into their default colors. The twins accidentally alerted the dragons, and the Riders make a quick escape by heading to the clouds, where the Changewings could not escape. And they never finished the story, what the heck?! The Outcasts then used a herd of wild Changewings during a diversion, thankfully, the Dragon Riders chase them back to Changewing Island. In fact, the fact that this story was never finished is why I made my latest OCs, Stray and his Changewing Faith, last month, who basically have the backstory of Flight of the Returnwing
