Aladdin and the King of Thieves is a American direct-to-video animated musical fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. It is the second sequel to Disney's animated feature film Aladdin , and it serves as the final chapter and installment of the Arabian Nights — inspired Disney franchise beginning with the first film, and continuing with its first direct-to-video sequel The Return of Jafar and the animated television series. The film takes place after the third season of the television series and is inspired by the tale Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves from One Thousand and One Nights , replacing Ali Baba with Aladdin; and, for the first time since the original Aladdin , the film has a completely new soundtrack instead of the rearranged music from the original film for The Return of Jafar and the series. This film also marks the return of actor Robin Williams , reprising his role as Genie from the first film and not by Dan Castellaneta , who voiced him in the second film, the series, and other media afterwards. Though this film serves as the series finale of the television series, the characters also appear in a crossover episode of the animated series Hercules , titled " Hercules and the Arabian Night ", as well as the segment More Than a Peacock Princess from the direct-to-video film Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams , both of them after this plot. The film received mixed to negative reviews, although it was deemed an improvement over The Return of Jafar.

Cassim left his wife and newborn son in Agrabah eighteen years ago to explore the world and pursue a better life for his family, not wanting to be looked down upon. Some time later, he fell in with the Forty Thieves , eventually becoming their leader the "King of Thieves" , and incorporated a new law: never hurt the innocent. At first, Cassim is seen in the film disguised as the King of Thieves, carrying out a plot to raid Aladdin and Jasmine 's wedding. As soon as the ceremony starts, he gives the word for the other thirty-nine to distract the guards while he searches for the Oracle. He manages to get away, swearing to meet Aladdin again. Later, Aladdin catches up to his father after learning he is "trapped in the world of the Forty Thieves", when Cassim utters the secret words to open the hideout of the Thieves "Open Sesame". Aladdin reveals that he is his son, and this is proved when the dagger slips out of his cloak.
