The symbiote known as Carnage is the spawn of the Venom symbiote and is most often bonded to the sociopathic serial-killer Cletus Kasady. When the Venom symbiote came to rescue its host, Eddie Brock who is also known as the super villain Venom , from jail, it left an asexually-produced offspring behind. The spawn bonded to Cletus through a wound in his hand, merging with his blood and becoming red-and-black in color. When it was eventually separated from him, [31] Norman Osborn also known as the super villain Green Goblin took possession of the symbiote and became the Red Goblin. During his assault on his own family, he bonded an offshoot of the symbiote to his own grandson, Normie , turning him into the Goblin Childe. Spider-Man defeated Norman by tricking him into separating from the Carnage symbiote before immolating it. Traces of the symbiote remained inside Cletus' body and rejuvenated in an attempt to save him from atmospheric re-entry, but perished in the process; [32] [8] leaving the Goblin Childe's symbiote as the only known remaining offshoot. It was eventually removed from Normie and left to be studied at Alchemax. The Carnage symbiote's codex still dwelled within its former hosts, and when Cletus consumed Scorn 's codices it caused his then-current symbiote - an offshoot of the Grendel - to be indwelled by the revived consciousness of his original symbiote, returning it to life. After a battle with Styx where the Venom Symbiote was presumed dead, its former host Eddie Brock was incarcerated in a prison for "normal" humans. Eventually Carnage fought Spider-Man , and the wall-crawler was defeated.
Les Collaborateurs : Most of their hosts willingly submitted to them, having already been bloodthirsty murderers and criminals.
Carnage , the most evil of evil alien symbiotes, is a long-time enemy of Spider-Man. It's an offshoot of the original extraterrestrial gloop monster, Venom. And while its "parent" has gone from villain to violent anti-hero to straight-up good guy in the Agent Venom series, the younger organism was born bad and stayed that way. It's a sower of chaos, a gleefully kill-crazy monster that is so violent that it's named after mass murder. That's because it premiered in the early '90s, when the comic book industry as a whole forgot what subtlety was and writers and artists started falling all over each other trying to come up with the most extreme characters and plot lines possible. While Carnage as a "character" by which we mean "an insane blob of sentient goo that stabs everyone it sees" hasn't changed much since its inception, the people who have hosted the symbiote have been many.
Cletus Cortland Kasady is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer David Michelinie and artist Erik Larsen , the character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man March as the first and most infamous host of the Carnage symbiote , an offspring of Venom. Originally a deranged serial killer , Kasady bonded with the symbiote while sharing a cell with Venom's human host, Eddie Brock , and broke out of prison using the super-human abilities granted by it. Since then, he went on to menace both Venom and Spider-Man , resulting in various unlikely alliances between the two to defeat him. Kasady and Carnage are a perfect match, as they both have sadistic personalities, and the symbiote only increases Kasady's already existent violent tendencies. After being separated from the redeemed Carnage symbiote in Absolute Carnage , Kasady nonetheless continued calling himself Carnage, bonding with Grendel , Mania and several other symbiotes to become Dark Carnage. Since his original introduction in comics, the character has been adapted into several other forms of media, such as television series and video games. Writer David Michelinie intended to have Venom's human alter ego, Eddie Brock , be killed off in The Amazing Spider-Man and have the symbiote continue to bond with a series of hosts.
