I read on a post a couple of days ago that the Lego stores had a "build your own Minifigure" station with various body parts and "tools". Someone had said that Lego took build a minifigure of the parts from series one and is offering them in these little stations at the Lego stores, build a minifigure.

These started popping up at Build-a-Minifigure stations here in Australia this week, and as usual, I went on the hunt for these new minifigure parts to add to my collection, and to put this review together, to help LEGO fans keep track of the selection. This time, I free-styled a bit more based on what I was able to find, so enjoy this look at the Q1 LEGO Build-a-Minifigure selection, and some of the more interesting torsos, prints and accessories! These are usually released on a quarterly basis, and are an intentional strategy to attract LEGO and Minifigure fans in-store. Some stores also send these new characters pre-packed, but that depends on your local store policy. The Lunar New Year is coming up, and to commemorate it, there are 3 new characters introduced, a boy and a girl dressed in traditional Chinese outfits. To commemorate being the Year of the Rabbit, we do get this new and exclusive blue Rabbit, an all-new recolour! Definitely look out for the Blue Rabbits if you spot a Build a Minifigure station. There are some subtle changes to the Panda Suit, including a new updated Panda headgear, and a half-zipped up fur suit! Another interesting addition, is a new Fireworks Costume minifigure, which would fit in well with Lunar New Year, as setting off fireworks is a big tradition, but this could also easily double as a New Year-themed minifigure, especially with his orange martini glass.

He comes with a brand new blue Wizard Hat, which has grey hair fused to it, and his torso and legs are highly detailed, with a star and moon pattern, as well as great accessories like a mysterious pouch, keys and even a brown shawl. Up next in the trio of Medieval Build a Minifigure characters is The Princess, which has a Japanese-inspired Kimono dress, with a shuriken necklace. Her official accessory is the crown, but I would recommend picking a more substantial element. The dual-moulded legs are really nice for brown boots, and the torso is generic enough to be used for all sorts of adventure-y type custom minifigure designs. The wanted criminal is The Outlaw, a diminutive female Outlaw, who is brandishing some dynamite, ready to blow up a Western Saloon or stage coach. Unfortunately, as you can see here, the printing on the hair is rather poor quality, where the hat meets the hair.

All you need to do is think about who you would like to create; what hair colour? But I do think you've hit the nail on the head in idenftifying the BAM experience as part of what you pay for. It turned up in really good time and was just what I was after to create a unique thank you gift for a colleague. Well yeah it varies, it's just like the in store Pick-a-Brick.
