Recently I noticed that the Melbourne radar images became static ie not cycling through the frames as they do on the BOM website. I have tested using other browsers and the mobile app and the behavior is consistent. If I replace the location with other sites eg Brisbane or Sydney these work correctly and show the animated gif cycling through the images.

Located at m on the summit of Mt Kanighan 26 km north of Gympie this radar has a very good view of any precipitation that may fall within its area of coverage. This extends from seawards of Fraser Is to the east, down to the Brisbane region to the south, out to about Chinchilla to the west, and up to about Miriam Vale to the north. This radar appears to provide a realistic interpretation of the weather actually being experienced within its area of coverage. Future radar is a new drop-down option available on the Weatherzone radar, allowing you to see where precipitation may fall in the next 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hour timeframe. It is a prediction that uses past radar and satellite data to infer the movement and intensity of precipitation. This differs from observed radar which uses physical instrumentation to measure and render precipitation as it happens. Future radar performs best with broad scale weather systems. However there are limitations in its performance when volatile convective systems develop and change within a short timeframe, as these scenarios provide local impacts that are difficult to predict in terms of speed, direction, intensity and shape.

Well that was quick and nearly painless. I thought TTS was supposed to migrate automatically? That failed. Otherwise ok. Guess I need to configure it manually. It should have migrated… it did on my system when on the Beta… b0 I had to manually roll it back as b0 broke all my custom stuff but then b1 migrated it again.

This site provides good low-level coverage, ideal for Doppler observations, of the Greater Brisbane area. The Great Dividing Range to the west and the Lamington Plateau to the south, reduce the radar's view from the south through to the west, affecting its ability to detect weak rainfall from low clouds beyond these obstructions. The radar's coverage, based on detecting echoes at an altitude of m, extends to a range of about km in the north to Tin Can Bay, then it follows a smooth arc through the east to the south-south-east, where it rapidly reduces to about km at Evans Head.

I think there's a way to load a custom component in HA, one that's not provided in the core distribution, but I'm not sure at the moment how to do it. As an example, Phil Buckner came up with a completely different fix for the custom sun component than I thought would be used. Sign up Learn More. The Hervey Range itself to the west and the Paluma Range to the northwest can obscure early development of thunderstorms, but fully developed storms are picked up well. Find out more Get in touch. Following the integration steps here. However, a quick look at some of the HA docs made me think that, if you've done a standard installation by flashing an image onto your Pi, the partitions containing the HA code might be mounted read-only so that, even if you can find the files, you may not be able to edit them. I have cleared the cache of my browser. Bsunshine18 sorry for the delayed response and simonjowett -- The PRs mentioned above update HA and its docs with what I think is a fix for this problem and hopefully a durable fix that insulates this component from BOM updates, as it extracts information on available radar images directly from BOM HTML rather than trying to compute the filenames from first principles. I have tried a different browser to see if it is related to my browser.

You do not have a default location set To set your location please use the search box to find your location and then click "set as my default location" on the local weather page. Sydney forecast: Friday Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower.

The current HA version has configuration checks that are too stringent for the newer bomradarloop code, which no longer uses delta and frames -- but you have to supply them if you use this hack, to appease the config check. Well that was quick and nearly painless. I could be wrong, though, and it's worth a try. Any idea when the fix might be released by HA? Find out more Get in touch. For the VirtualBox image at least -- and I suspect for other appliance-style HA installs -- the total HA system is composed of several cooperating Docker containers running on a lightweight, bare-bones host OS. Rain radar. Interpretation Notes: The site at Hervey Range is at elevation m making it a fairly good site for Townsville's main weather watch radar. Update bom. It is a prediction that uses past radar and satellite data to infer the movement and intensity of precipitation. At the time, I was getting a 2-frame loop of the Wollongong radar.
