Arbours at Lafayette opened over the summer near the intersection of North University Avenue and Interstate A Baton Rouge company that partnered on an unit apartment complex off North University Avenue will soon start on a unit project next to it. Bearing Point Properties sought a plat approval from the city planning commission last week for just under 9 acres at the corner of University Avenue and Alcide Dominique Drive for the project along with two lots for commercial use, documents show. The company has an option to buy the property and expects to close on it early next year, said Deane Bryson, managing partner with Bearing Point. The owner of the property will retain just under an acre of frontage along University Avenue for commercial development. The move comes after Bearing Point and Arbours opened the first phase of Arbours at Lafayette during the summer. It did very well. As fast as we could turn units, we got them leased. The project is the latest in the Lafayette area for Bearing Point Properties, which bought 22 acres behind the Rouses Markets near the corner of Johnston Street and Duhon Road over the summer.
