With the interior mainly concerned with bistro and TAB operations, the key to the Anglers Tavern is the large outdoor area, which can go ballistic on hot summer days with its fantastic views of the river. There's actually a small public bar downstairs to the left, offering all the smoke filled comforts and clinking of pot glasses that many cherish. Head through the front door, however, and you enter a territory of function and bistro areas - perfect for the family or romantic night out.

Prime location looks fabulous, the Anglers Tavern stands imperiously alongside the mighty Maribyrnong river and covers a vast area. Downstairs, all new and modern with glistening polished timber aplenty, has two main areas- bistro and TAB no pokies with a wonderful bar servicing both areas. Grab a seat alongside the window when dining and enjoy the serenity of the river. The pub triumphs at the rear with its massive and new beer garden and maximises the views. Plenty of space, smart and comfortable, the time spent there will evaporate. On weekends the pub really goes into overdrive attracting people from near and far. Pricing is about right. Beer runs a familiar line of Carlton products but in an area so large, the draught from the tap 5. The resurgent late Summer that Melbourne is enjoying gives that extra reason to go to a pub and enjoy the rays before the chill kicks in. And while the Maribyrnong may lack the cachet that views of the Bay may offer, it is extremely pleasant to go and enjoy that moment by the water with friends whilst relaxing and sharing good times over a drink and meal. The set up inside but moreover out that the Anglers has invested in, is paying dividends. The modern look is great and even though it is years since the last visit, everything seems to work well to give you a bang for your leisure dollar. Also, large indoor areas available. Nice view of the river. We had the Atlantic salmon. Tonight was steak night cooked exactly as I requested. If the line up for ordering meals was switched to order and pay at tables, via portable credit card facility, moving around and space would be improved. The music selection did not match with the lunch time and you have to wait around 30min for the meals. Brings in a good crowed of people too. Decent list of beers in tap, if you're not a hipster. We had a Seniors lunch here today. Was there for a Sunday lunch and there was a line up to order food but moved quickly enough.

Staff taking orders.. Nice breezy venue. Food was fresh, cooked to perfection and served very quickly. Lots of very young bar staff who clearly don't know their product lines makes ordering in masks at the bar a challenge. Will definitely keep coming here given its size and multi-purpose space but would be nice to have the staff step up a touch. Love sitting by the Maribyrnong river watching the world go by.. Meals were huge and great, we were all very satisfied. Anglers is a great joint for a cheeky feed of pub grub. Hugely popular and busy pub. There's a very eclectic crowd but really surprised at the amount of smokers. The set up inside but moreover out that the Anglers has invested in, is paying dividends.
