Never Back Down has much the same plot as How She Move, but the setting is a high school in Orlando, Florida, and the hero is a white boy, Jake Tyler Sean Faris , a toothy Tom Cruise lookalike with anger-management problems who has just relocated from rural Iowa. Instead of step dancing, this school is obsessed with MMA Mixed Martial Arts , a peculiarly brutal form of kick boxing in which only crotch-kicking and eye-gouging is barred. After being humiliated by the rich school bully, a sadistic psychopath, Jake signs on at the MMA school run by that gentle charismatic giant Djimon Hounsou, who becomes his guru in the manner of The Karate Kid. The question is, will Jake learn self-control and self-respect? Or will he enter the big Beatdown contest and take on the bully?
