Alan Wake 2 is quite possibly one of the best games this year. It incorporates an amazing story that is told in a fantastic way. Unfortunately, it seemed that playing on the Steam Deck was impossible, with the game not launching at all and needing some hefty hardware to run it. But, the PC community is not one to balk at, and within a day, people started coming up with solutions to get it running on the Deck. And with some testing done, I can now say one of these solutions definitely works.

Cloud save from epic didn't detect. Had to reset the save path and let it reassign it then allowed to download the save. Game crashed on me 3 times during the first 2 hours of gameplay, did not happen after and everything was smooth sailing. After the last crash I had in the game everything ran like butter, Idk if it was due to shaders or something, but was able to get longer sessions after putting some time in. I only used the VectorBlur. Game would crash on launch with no errors on Proton 8 and with a 'Function "tex2D" is not defined' error on Proton 7. After some trobuleshooting i found out I had to manually install Steamworks Common Redistributables from the steam tool library. The game has been working flawlessly since. Never at the same places, crashes seemed random. I have the game from the epic game store, so I installed it using the Heroic Games launcher After that, the game works perfectly and it is a real pleasure playing it on the steam deck Since then, the game's working. You just have use wine or bottles for the installer to work when installed open steam and add this game as non steam game in compatability change the proton version to 7. It is amazing how smooth and great it runs like linux native. I wanted to play this game since alan wake 2 is right around the corner.
