The Mayor of Derby is embroiled in a row with city council chiefs over action taken against a fellow councillor who called him a racist on social media. Reform Derby councillor and city mayor Alan Graves says he feels a sense of injustice after a post on a Labour councillor's Facebook page attacked him. The remarks were later edited and then removed completely. The post also included a picture inside the council chamber. The post was published weeks after Councillor Chambers was first elected. It is understood a member of the public then made an official complaint to the city council about the original post on Cllr Chambers' Facebook page. Cllr Graves - Derby's mayor - has subsequently fallen out with city council chiefs because he claims they have not taken enough action against Cllr Chambers when disciplining her. He claims the councillor was told to apologise to the council's monitoring officer only for "potentially bringing the council into disrepute" before the matter was closed completely. He says Councillor Chambers should have been ordered to apologise to him in person. The mayor posted a video on his social media channels in which he told his followers details of the complaint and how it was handled. But Cllr Graves has so far refused, at the time of writing. I feel there is a sense of injustice. The council has a duty of care to its employees and its councillors and I wanted to know what was going to be done for me. I was told a complaint had to be made. A complaint was made and still nothing has been done for me.
