Originally a member of the Dojima Family , he goes on to become the patriarch of the Nishikiyama Family. Nishikiyama has a muscular build and loose, black shoulder length hair in Yakuza 0 , as well as the prologue and flashback sequences in Yakuza Kiwami. Nishikiyama's tattoo depicts a red koi swimming upwards and was tattooed by Utabori. The koi is red with white fins and red scales with white edges. The koi is surrounded by gray waves. His tattoo represents his ambition to climb the ranks of the Tojo Clan , as in Japanese and Chinese mythology, the Koi must swim upstream the Yellow River through the dragon's gate of Longmen to turn into a dragon. In Yakuza 0 , only his tattoo's outline is finished.

Akira nishikiyama

He is Kiryu 's oath brother and the patriarch of the Nishikiyama Family. His best friend, Kiryu, often calls him by the name "Nishiki". His reasoning for joining was due to feeling indebted to Shintaro Kazama and the Yakuza for paying his ill sister's medical bills. Throughout the events of Yakuza 0, Akira was heavily against Kiryu's approach against the many trials he faced. After Kiryu was framed for murder and resigned from the Dojima Family to protect Shintaro Kazama's reputation, Akira stayed within the Yakuza. Upon Kiryu joining the Dojima Family's rival, Tachibana Real Estate, Akira, along with the others within the Family, were sent under the orders of Hiroki Awano, to hunt Kiryu down and return him to the Family, so that he can be sent to "The Hole" to suffer his punishment. Akira had planned to kill Kiryu to save him from the Dojima Family's torture, but was unable to. Kiryu tells him to act as if he never saw him, and promptly steals his fancy car, returning to Kamurocho to finish what he had started, to Akira's dismay. Kiryu later runs into Akira, who was ordered to kill Kiryu for causing so much trouble for the Family. One of the members offers Akira a promotion if he kills Kiryu, but he refuses and joins Kiryu in battle, later being Kiryu's aid throughout the events of the story. Akira Nishikiyama is a man of medium height and average weight.

While he was capable of squaring off against Kiryu man-to-man in the original game, his fighting style was rather simplistic and comparable to Kiryu's self-taught skills, akira nishikiyama. Nishiki establishes the Nishikiyama Family as a "subsidiary" of the Tojo Clan, and later triggers an internal power struggle for the clan's leadership shortly after Kiryu's release, leading to the two men becoming mortal enemies. Nishiki also appears as a supporting character in the prequel installment, Yakuza 0 , which follows Kiryu's early years as a low-ranking member of the Tojo Clan. For Yakuza Kiwami , the remake of the original Yakuza , Nishiki's role in the narrative is expanded, with his motivations being more clearly explained. The character of Nishiki is positively received, particularly for his expanded story arc in Kiwami and when it is contrasted with his depiction as a benevolent character in 0.

Akira Nishikiyama is one of the characters in the Yakuza series. A member of the Dojima Family , together with Kiryu. Friends and sworn brothers, the two grew up together at the Sunflower Orphanage and joined the Dojima Family together. Blessed with cunning, wit, and the ambition to make use of them in order to climb the family ranks, he shows frustration at Kiryu's lack of drive to do the same. Behind his desire for success is his concern for the well-being of his sickly younger sister.

The Yakuza series has a few constants: burly men with tattoos, karaoke and cabaret, dramatic fist fights, and the city of Kamurocho. Yakuza takes this vibrant setting and packs it with soap-opera charm as crime lords and police battle for control of the district. The open world is full of clubs that change ownership and shops that change as the series progresses. The first game, set in , establishes important Kamurocho landmarks. The massive MIllenium Tower sits near the center of town, protagonist Kazuma Kiryu frequents Club Serena further downtown, and bright parlors cast a neon glow down Theater Avenue. As the series progressed and time moves on, Kumorocho changes. Millenium Tower is the most drastic example of changing space within Kamurocho. In Yakuza 0, Millenium Tower is yet to be built. The space is take up by a small series of alleyways and hole-in-the-wall bars. At the center of it all is the Empty Lot, a small parcel of undeveloped land that various real estate agencies and yakuza families fight over.

In his later scenes, he continues to be rather emotional and high-strung while Kiryu gradually hardens into the coolheaded yet wise badass we've come to know and love. Dramatic Irony : 0 , the prequel to the first Yakuza , is full of moments like this where many moments of his camaraderie with Kiryu play out to hammer home his fall from grace in the first game. The character's Japanese voice actor, Kazuhiro Nakaya, noted that after reading the script for Kiwami , it was so rough on him that he felt like not reading any scripts for a while. Before leaving, he says that Kazama is still alive and well and that he is in hiding with the help of Shinji. Having lost his final battle with Kiryu, along with Yumi getting shot and everyone else he cares about already dead, it's not hard for him to think that it was once again All for Nothing , but he could still at least go out protecting his childhood friends and take Jingu with him. They fight to the bitter end, but Kiryu eventually wins. Wrestler in All of Us : In his fight in the original game, one of his moves from a grapple is a vertical suplex. Kiryu himself wonders if things would have turned out differently if he hadn't tried to shoulder the blame for Nishiki murdering Sohei Dojima to protect Yumi. In Yakuza 0 , one team-up move alongside Kiryu involves Nishiki performing a sitout powerbomb while Kiryu stomps the opponent's face. Notably said remake also gives him a unique combo that ends with two consecutive kicks, one a round house kick and the other a wheel kick, much like Kiryu's own 5 hit combo finisher with his classic Dragon style though Nishiki leads and ends the two kicks with the opposite feet. Jun Oda eventually arrives at the bar, beaten by Dojima Family men led by Awano 's men. After that, well Undying Loyalty : To Kiryu in Yakuza 0 ; he'd rather die than let Kiryu be harmed or used by others like the Dojima Family and Majima or so he thought. Sympathetic Murderer : Considering how much of a bastard his boss, Sohei Dojima was and the fact that he was trying to rape Yumi, one can hardly blame Nishiki for doing what he did in that no-win situation. They managed to find Tachibana but were too late to save him, as he dies from injuries sustained after being tortured.

Yakuza In the first game, following Dojima's murder and the race for the 10 billion yen, Nishiki would stop at nothing to reach the top of the yakuza world, even if it meant betraying and sacrificing those closest to him, believing it was the only way to gain control of his life, get what he wanted, and be respected in the Tojo Clan. After Jingu fatally shoots Yumi while trying to kill Kiryu, Nishiki redeems himself by stabbing Jingu with a knife, giving up on the money he coveted and detonating a bomb to kill himself and Jingu. Driven to Suicide : A cutscene in Kiwami depicts Nishiki mourning over his sister's death with a knife within reach. While he was in school, Nishikiyama wore a black gakuran WP over a magenta t-shirt with black oxfords. He's still a debt-ridden, gambling scum when Nishiki finds him, gambling heavily at an illegal casino and racking up massive debt with the Triads running it. He's even somewhat similar to Nishiki playing the role of an Evil Counterpart to Kiryu, growing up as an orphan, and having rough experiences in life that turned them into unstrusting, overly ambitious, power-seeking monsters. Reina becomes distraught over how Nishikiyama didn't keep his promise in not making her worry over Kiryu and Yumi and frantically asks why he couldn't do anything to save them. Kiryu becomes enraged and punches Nishikiyama to the ground. Almighty Janitor : In 0 , he's not quite on Kiryu or Majima's level but he's pretty damn tough for a mere Dojima soldier, even giving Majima a rough time as well as supporting Kiryu in combat without him slowing down a bit. I'm sticking with you til death to us part! After Kiryu was framed for murder and resigned from the Dojima Family to protect Shintaro Kazama's reputation, Akira stayed within the Yakuza.
