So playing on survival mode beta I was playing through a quest and I wanted to finish saving valentine. Having no fast travel, pains me to no end with this. I was tired and getting close to being sick and I didn't want to just rest an hour just so i could hurry and run from vault to red rock. Sprinting back as fast as i can I get to lexington and the message comes up that i failed to defend the settlement. I get to lexington and a behemoth was standing in my way in an open area.

I've also collected a ton of cans and such to keep my aluminum high, but I believe certain stores can give you a shipment of aluminum to help you out as well. Adhesive is a very valuable component in regards to crafting. Its use is required in almost every weapon, armor, or robot modification. To find adhesive, you will need to find the junk items that can be broken down into it. These items include duct tape and glue. Adhesive is almost always found this way. Anglers drop pure adhesive when killed, so farming them is a good alternative to scrounging around the Commonwealth.

With a bit of farming, you can make an unlimited supply of Adhesive for Armor and Weapon mods. It is required in the majority of crafting you'll do. Thankfully, the developers provided a way that we can get an unlimited supply of adhesive - Vegetable Starch, crafted at any cooking station. Head to Graygarden, pictured on the map above. This place is full of useful vegetables, but it's noteworthy that it has all three of the plants you need in order to make Vegetable Starch, providing 5 Adhesive for each you craft. It's a bit of a walk, but you'll discover some things along the way and possibly find some wild creatures that will provide leather. A minor spoiler, Graygarden can join you after you finish a quest to clear out Supermutants and Mirelurks at the nearby water treatment plant. It's a bit challenging early on, so you might want to save this quest for later.

In New Vegas I loved going HC mode and scavving all day to stay alive, but lugging around garbage and scavving largely to babysit settlements? Yeah, but I like to be an overachiever sometimes, so I'd probably wait on using mods until I get all the achievements done. Dude, I feel you. I come back to red rock to find all my food farming spots fixed. Yep, I wanted to experiment and see how the systems work without worrying too much about constantly having to scav for the components, but frankly it's just more fun being able to build your settlement without constantly running short of supplies especially at the start when settlement storage isn't linked.
