Happy Janmashtami to all my readers! Our celebrations are so often about food, achyutam keshavam, decoration and socialising that we forget to be prayerful, do we not?

We don't call Him like Meera Mirabais love and devotion are well known and Lord Krishna always visits the devotee when they call Him so lovingly and with such purity. Who says that God Bhagwan doesn't eat what we offer as prashad? We don't offer prashad like Shabri did Shabri lived in the forest and would collect the best berries everyday in the hope that one day Lord Rama would visit.

I can tune in an tune out at will but with vocal music I am always distracted…why dont you try instrumental? It is especially popular at Janmastami events :. I love these old hymns which have passed through so many centuries, sung by so many over time, each adding to the power of the hymn by their own belief in it. To know that it was written by none other than Adi Shankara! October 7, at pm. I try to focus my mind but I fail most of the time. In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed them — consuming them in His name!!
